History of the NIGHTS conferences - NEWNet & Stadt Nach Acht

The first NIGHTS conference was held 2013 in Padua, Italy. It was the dissemination conference of the NEWIP project, founded by the European Union. The main objectives in Padua were related to health and safety within nightlife and music-festivals. Around 200 european experts participated.

Thanks to the cooperation with the Clubcommission Berlin, the second edition was organized in 2016. Following the overwhelming involvement of over 500 participants, the Clubcommission and NEWNet were highly motivated to organize, in 2017, the third conference in Berlin again.

Since 2016 the event started to be organized around four thematic pillars: City Development, Culture, Economy and Safe Night Out. This means the conference now gathers professionals from various sectors, and leads to exchanges on a broader range of issues going from (illegal) substances, health, consumption-patterns and mobile drug-checking, to updated night-time statistics, night majors, ambassadors, city councils developments, urban spaces management, the integration of refugees and a closer look at rave “awareness”. More than 600 nightlife experts from more than 20 countries were reason enough to continue with this successful story. Here is a list of the speakers 2017.

After Padua and Berlin, the NIGHTS conference movement now picked Brussels as the location for the fourth edition of this international and interdisciplinary nightlife conference.
