As a night culture advocate, event producer and journalist, Ramon de Lima is at the forefront of the creative night-time industry in the Dutch capital Amsterdam. Ramon is currently a board member of the Night Mayor Foundation. An independent, non-profit foundation, aimed at ensuring that Amsterdam has a dynamic and vibrant nightlife – by bridging the gaps between the municipality, businesses and residents.

The foundation has fought for recognition of night culture since the beginning, and it seems that the city of Amsterdam acknowledges the power of nightlife. That the social, cultural and economic features of the night lead to a city that is innovative, lively and accommodating. Is our work done now? Never. Night culture is still under pressure. Gentrification and the loss of free spaces in the city are one of the most urgent challenges of today. But also contributing to a diverse, social and ethnically inclusive night for all the people of Amsterdam to enjoy is one of the foundation's main goals.
